Student Safety at Pine Grove:

REMINDER of Pick-up & Drop-off Procedures

Please review the procedures below for dropping off and picking up your child(ren) at Pine Grove. Thank you for your cooperation and for respecting school safety expectations.

DAILY SUPERVISION OF STUDENTS

• Morning supervision of students begins at 9:10 a.m. Students cannot be dropped off on school property prior to 9:10 a.m. This includes the office, blacktop and playground.

• Afternoon supervision of students ends at 4:00 p.m. Students must be picked up from school by 4:00 p.m.

KISS ‘N’ RIDE

Students who are dropped off and/or picked up by a vehicle must do so only at the front Kiss ‘N’ Ride loop where there is staff supervision to ensure student safety. Students cannot be picked up from the gym foyer or front entrance doors where there is no staff supervision. We do not want students walking unsupervised through a parking lot with moving vehicles. If your child walks home independently, they are dismissed at the bell and proceed home.

YMCA PICKUP

If you are picking up your child from the YMCA program, this should take place after 4:00 p.m., at the designated door when staff supervision ends and students are safely en route home. We want everyone to arrive at school and get home safely.

INCLEMENT WEATHER DISMISSAL

On days with rain, heavy winds, excessive snow and/or extreme temperatures, all students who ride a bus or are being picked up will remain inside the school in designated, supervised areas until their departure.

If you are picking up your child in a vehicle, please advise the supervising staff person at the Kiss ‘N’ Ride lane of your child’s name, continue to wait in your vehicle, and staff will bring your child to your vehicle at the Kiss ‘N’ Ride area. If you are picking up your child on foot and walking home, please proceed to the gate at the Music foyer doors (located near the entrance driveway of the school) to meet your child there. For the safety of all students, please do not enter the school to locate your child during dismissal.

EARLY MORNING PRACTICE/REHEARSAL DROP-OFF

Some of our teams and clubs practise or rehearse prior to the start of our school day. Students participating in these activities are supervised by the teacher running the activity. The front doors or gym doors will be open for entry.

Please note: Siblings who are not participating in these activities cannot be dropped off at school until supervision begins on the blacktop at 9:10 a.m.
